Editor needs
head examined

Friday the Insider referred to Robert Djergaian, newly appointed to the Southwest Washington Medical Center Foundation board of directors, as a psychiatrist. The medical community has been particularly forthcoming in correcting us.

The term physiatrist refers to the specialty of Physical Medicine. Practitioners of this field generally deal with rehabilitation, from injuries such as fractures, strokes, etc. Dr. Djergaian is the head of the rehab unit (inpatient unit) at SWMC, Richard Dobrow, a valued critic of these pages, reported. Larry Cohen, director, planning, Southwest Washington Medical Center, corroborated this information.
