Steve Harris, CVTV video producer,
earns national, local recognition

Steve Harris, CVTV video producer, who wrote and produced a five-minute video promotional piece for employment of people with disabilities, has earned a top award from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers & Advisors for the piece, which has been used by at least 100 local audiences.

Harris was presented the third place award in the special audience category by NATOA in Washington, D.C., earlier this month.

Harris was also cited locally by the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board and the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce in recognition of “Outstanding service and promotion of employment for people with disabilities.”

Harris, a graduate of Montana State University, has been with CVTV for the past eight years. He began his career in television with the Public Broadcasting System in Spokane in 1988.

The video was produced for the Clark County Community Services Developmental Disabilities Program.

C-TRAN connector service
planning meetings begin

Planning sessions for C-TRAN connector service to Yacolt, Ridgefield and La Center begin with a 3 p.m. meeting this afternoon in the Student Services Building, Washington State University Vancouver.

Connector service will return public transit service to these Clark County communities as a result of the successful election in September that added .2 percent to the sales tax to support C-TRAN services.

“We look forward to working closely with citizens in designing their own C-TRAN connector services,” C-TRAN executive director/CEO Lynne Griffith says.

Additional meetings will be held in the individual communities beginning next week.

Survey on homelessness underway

An on-line survey is being conducted by the Clark County Council for the Homeless as part of its initiative to reduce homelessness by 50 percent over the next ten years.

“To end homelessness we need affordable housing, livable wages, and services for those who need them,” says Kim Connor, executive director for the council.

For further information, and to participate in the ten-minute survey, go to www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=70531412787.
