Friends of the Arts to open art
gallery in Vancouver Marketplace

Friends of the Arts, a ten-year-old nonprofit arts advocacy organization, will open a 10,000 square-foot fine art gallery, Art on the Boulevard, in the Vancouver Marketplace at the corner of Evergreen Boulevard an Columbia Street in March 2006.

The gallery will be directed by Gene Wigglesworth, assisted by his wife, Grace Teigen. Wigglesworth and Teigen are former partners and operators of the Lawrence Gallery in Sheridan.

The mission of Friends of the Arts is to “establish a community environment in which the arts are pervasive and can flourish.”

Art on the Boulevard will function as a public location where Friends of the Arts can continue to communicate its vision of an artist’s community in the Historic Reserve, according to Wigglesworth. Art on the Boulevard will participate in Second Saturday Art Walk and will cooperate with other local galleries to promote the arts to local residents and visitors, Wigglesworth says.

For further information, call Wigglesworth at 772-4393.
