C-TRAN this month will begin installing solar-powered bus stops. Forty of the solar-powered will provide light for the stop and also a flashing signal light showing that a bus is approaching. Another 50 of the new stops will not be lighted but will be equipped with the flashing signal light.

The solar-powered bus stops are financed by a federal grant.

Beware of $101 fine

Because of a significant number of cars being stolen as they idle unoccupied in driveways, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department is reminding motorists of other legal consequences of unattended motor vehicles:

RCW 46.61.600: “No person driving or in charge of a motor vehicle shall permit it to stand unattended without first stopping the engine, locking the ignition, removing the key and effectively setting the brake thereon and, when standing upon any perceptible grade, turning the front wheels to the curb or side of the highway. The fine for leaving a car running without an occupant is $101.”

Good workman shouldn’t blame his tools

As the editor of the Insider began making resolutions to do better work during 2006, he discovered that one of two calendars he has relied on to keep days and dates correct during the past year was a 2004 calendar. Insider readers should find significant improvements in the Insider in the new year.

Any further suggestions and recommendations for improving the newsletter will be accepted with all the grace and humility the editor has left over in the waning days of 2005. Submit helpful suggestions to tony@dailyinsider.info
