Tom Taylor to serve Wells
Fargo business
Tom Taylor has been appointed manager of the Wells Fargo Portland and southwest Washington business banking team. Taylor will direct the activities of 70 Wells Fargo bankers who serve customers in small and medium business in the region. Taylor previously was the business banking manager for Wells Fargo in Houston. He has 26 years' experience in financial services. Taylor founded, and for five years directed, a food products distribution company. Taylor served four years as a sonar technician and diver aboard a U.S. Navy submarine in the mid 1970s in San Diego. activities The ports of Vancouver and Portland, including the Port of Portland’s Portland International Airport, generate 83,316 jobs in the region annually that produced $3.5 billion in annual income, according to statistics discussed by officials of the two ports in a meeting at the Port of Vancouver Tuesday. The largest single contributor to port-related income in the region is Portland International Airport, where direct, indirect and induced jobs produce $1.8 billion in income annually. Port of Portland’s direct, indirect and induced jobs produce $1,427 billion annual income. The Port of Vancouver’s 5,913 direct, indirect and induced jobs produce an annual income of $285 million. Legacy Health System has been named to the 2007 Honor Role by The Center for Companies That Care, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the well-being of employees and communities. Legacy, which operates Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital in Clark County, was selected for its efforts to improve quality of life in communities it serves. The Legacy-endowed $10 million community health fund provides at least $500,000 annually on behalf of children in the Vancouver-Portland area. Legacy was also cited for its community service leave program that allows employees to take up to two weeks paid leave to volunteer with community non-profit organizations. Calendar The Port of Camas-Washougal will discuss the proposed $350 million Riverwalk project on the Columbia River in Washougal at 5 p.m. this evening in a public meeting in port offices at 24 S A Street in Washougal. n Port of Ridgefield commissioners meet in regular session at 6 p.m. this evening in port offices, 111 W Division Street. The agenda includes a discussion of the rail over crossing project and the waterfront master plan. n A groundbreaking ceremony signaling the beginning of construction on the $56 million interchange on Interstate 5 at the extension of Highway 502 (NE 219th Street) is at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12. Speakers are Don Wagner, southwest regional administrator for the state Department of Transportation, Tim Kerr, of the contractor, Kerr Contractors Inc., and John Barnett, chairman of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. The interchange is financed by the nickel gasoline tax package adopted by the state legislature in 2003. When completed in 2009, the interchange will provide Battle Ground with direct access to I-5 and help relieve congestion at the fairgrounds interchange at NE 179th Street.
