Randy Mueller files for
office
Randy Mueller, economic development staffer at the Port of Ridgefield, has announced that he is a candidate for position 2 on the Ridgefield City Council. That position is held by Gladys Doriot. who is currently mayor of the city. City offices are nonpartisan. Mueller has owned a small business, providing campaign management, lobbying and governmental affairs work since 2003. Most recently he was one of the consultants responsible for passing the Vancouver Community Library bond measure expansion project and for helping pass the 2005 C-TRAN sales tax increase. Mueller is a graduate of Washington State University. He is a member of American MENSA, Washington Conservation Voters, the National Rifle Association and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Mueller is a Vancouver Business Journal Accomplished Under 40 Award winner. Ridgefield has a five-member city council. The mayor is elected by the council and serves a two-year term. All C-TRAN buses now running This week Clark County’s transit agency, C-TRAN, completed a switch from 5 percent biodiesel blended fuel to a 20 percent biodiesel blend, further reducing carbon and sulfur dioxide emissions, the main ingredients in greenhouse gases. The biodiesel program, which began in February, includes one bus that runs on 100 percent biodiesel, making C-TRAN the first transit agency on the west coast to have a revenue-producing bus producing no carbon or sulfur dioxide emissions. Using federal grants, C-TRAN is upgrading its entire fleet to cleaner fuel burning standards. By next year 12 C-TRAN buses will be equipped with diesel/electric hybrid power. Riverview Bancorp reports record profits Riverview Bancorp reported record profits for fiscal 2007 year, ending March 31, according to Pat Sheaffer, chairman and CEO. Riverview Bancorp, with assets of $820 million, is the parent company of 84-year-old Riverview Community Bank. Riverview Mortgage and Riverview Asset Management Corp. The company has 18 branches in the region, including a third Portland branch, which opened in the past year. Net income for fiscal 2007 increased 19 percent to $11.6 million, compared to $9.07 in fiscal 2006, according to Sheaffer. News brief More than 400 community leaders attended the 32nd annual Southwest Washington Independent Forward Thrust auction held in the Hilton Vancouver Washington in April, raising over $203,000 for community programs. SWIFT has been serving Southwest Washington since 1975, granting over $4 million to more than 1,200 agencies Calendar The Clark County Historical Museum hosts a Thursday After Hours program this evening is highlighted by a 7 p.m. presentation on Vancouver architecture by Derek Chisolm, former manager of Clark County’s historical preservation. His topic is “Architectural Ornamentation in Vancouver.” Other exhibits on display are “Vancouver Uncovered,” “Woven History: North American Basketry” and “John Whitehead: Clark County’s Grandma Moses.” There is no charge from 5 to 9 p.m. at the museum at 1511 Main Street.
