Alan Hargrave
elected president
Alan Hargrave, three-term member of the Port of Camas-Washougal board of commissioners, has been elected president of the three-member board, effective July 2. His term will continue through Dec. 31, 2008. Rich Gunderson, immediate past president of the board, will hold the position of secretary of the board through the end of his four-year term in December. Gunderson is not seeking re-election. Jim Carroll, who is in his second year of his first term, will continue to serve as vice president of the board. Hargrave is a native of Clark County and has been active in the business community for the past 35 years, 28 of which were with the construction company George Schmid & Sons, Inc. In addition to running a private consulting business, Hargrave is involved in the start-up of the Partners Bank of Washington and teaches part-time at the Northwest College of Construction. Hargrave is the Port of Camas-Washougal’s delegate to the Washington Public Ports Association and the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association. He is a member of the board of the Columbia River Economic Development Council and the Portland International Airport Futures Advisory Group. Hargrave is a member of the National Utility Contractors Association, a past member of the Washougal Board of Adjustment and past president of the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Council. The Port of Camas-Washougal was created in 1935. Growth management
Clark County commissioners’ marathon hearings on amendments to its 20-year Comprehensive Growth Management Plan continue with a 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, session in the Public Service Center. Public comments will be heard during the session, which may be the last as commissioners try to button down amendments in the plan. Commissioners last December adopted changes, but as soon as a new board of commissioners was sworn in in January the board opted to reopen hearings, fearing that the earlier document did not properly prepare the county for anticipated growth. Details of proposed amendments to the plan, including elaborate maps showing changes in property uses and extended urban growth boundaries, can be found by going to www.clarek.wa.gov/longrangeplan/review/index/html Except for Camas,
