Residents ‘generally’ satisfied
with overall quality of city services

A February survey of just over 400 city residents conducted for the city of Vancouver showed that residents were generally satisfied with the overall quality of city services, but only satisfied.

The respondents registered three main concerns: maintenance of city streets, effectiveness of city government communication and the quality of police, fire and emergency medical service.

Most residents—82 percent—were satisfied with the quality of life in Vancouver.

Seventy-six percent rated Vancouver as a good place to work.

Seventy percent said Vancouver was moving in the right direction.

Of respondents who worked or went to school outside of the home, 75 percent said they worked in Washington; 25 percent said they worked in Oregon.

Seattle’s KIRO news returns
to Comcast customers

KIRO news and public affairs programming is returning to the Comcast channel line-up, Donna Mason, CVTV executive director, announced today.

News and public affairs programming from the Seattle-based CBS affiliate will be on the air five times daily, Monday through Friday, four times on Saturday and three times on Sunday, on CVTV Channel 21, according to Mason.

KIRO news had been carried on Comcast Cable Channel 14, but was dropped by Comcast late last year when it eliminated Channel 14 to make room for more high definition and digital programming.

According to Mason, the ability to receive news and information from other areas of the state is one of the highest priorities for local cable television subscribers. The agreement also means that in case of emergencies or other special circumstances Vancouver and Clark Count Comcast cable subscribers will be able to receive information from around the state through KIRO on Channel 21.
