Realtors endorse Brokaw and Lothspeich The Clark County Association of Realtors’ political action committee has endorsed Democrat Pam Brokaw and Republican Brad Lothspeich for Clark County Commissioner, District 1, reports Realtor board president Linda Nielson. Brokaw and Lothspeich are two of seven candidates for the county position being vacated by the retirement of Betty Sue Morris. Nielson says that the endorsement in the Aug. 19 primary comes because “both Pam and Brad have a keen understanding of the many complex issues facing our growing community and, more specifically, the issues facing our industry.” The other five candidates for position 1 are as follows: Tom Mielke, Republican; Robert Nichols, no party preference; Craig L. Williams, Republican; Bridget Schwarz, Independent; and Matt Swindell, Republican. Primitive roads near Sara Clark County road crews this week are expected to begin grinding up surfaces of three “primitive” roads near Ridgefield in the Sara area so that the roads can be resurfaced with a combination of the old roadway, new gravel and oil. According to county public works operations superintendent Scott Wilson, the focus of the road project is to build something that lasts longer and ultimately saves money by using less oil and reducing labor costs. The current roads began as gravel surfaces, and about every two years more gravel and oil were added. The recycled surfaces and new road base should last seven to ten years before resurfacing is necessary, Wilson says. The roads are NW 169th Street and NW 51st and 61st Avenues. Bank of Clark County ranked The Bank of Clark County has been ranked among the Top 200 community banks in the nation by US Banker Magazine for multiyear financial performance among banks with assets below $1 billion. Regional business magazines have listed the bank as one of the fastest growing companies five years in a row. The Bank of Clark County, founded in 1999, has over $450,000,000 in assets, reports bank president and CEO Mike Worthy.
