Skills center restaurant now open

“A Touch of Class,” the student-operated restaurant at the Clark County Skills Center, is now open to the public on those Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays that the Skills Center is open.

Students in the Skills Center’s Restaurant Management/Culinary Arts program host, prepare and serve breakfast from 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. and lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The American Culinary Federation recently renewed its certification of the program. Prices are nominal and affordable.

Opened in 1983, the Clark County Skills Center is owned and operated by ten southwest Washington school districts providing technical and professional training programs that help prepare Clark County high school and college students for the workforce.

CREDC Annual Meeting early reservation pricing ends Friday

The Columbia River Economic Development is hosting its 26th Annual Meeting on Thurs., November 13, 11:30-1 p.m. at the Hilton Vancouver Washington. Presenting sponsor is Columbia Credit Union. Ron Frederiksen of RSV Construction Services, Inc. was named the first recipient of the Kyle Corwin Lifetime Achievement Award. The late Kyle Corwin, owner of Corwin Beverage, is remembered for his commitment to community. Frederiksen was named as award honoree by Diane Christie, executive director of Share, Inc. With the nomination, Diane associated Ron and Kyle as “men of passion.” She said both are known, first and foremost for dedication to family. Next and close second to their hearts is their business. They are also both known for integrity, honesty, candor, credibility, generosity and philanthropy.

Frederiksen volunteers with a variety of boards and organizations, including Share Emergency Housing, Innovative Services NW, YWCA and Angel Flight.
