Superintendent brings back popular brown bag lunches with the community Evergreen Public Schools Superintendent John Deeder will hold the first of this year's monthly brown bag lunches with the community at noon Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the Evergreen Public Schools Administrative Service Center, 13501 NE 28 Street. Deeder first began the popular meetings last year, as a way to connect with the community in an open, casual forum to answer questions and discuss any topics about education and Evergreen Schools. Deeder will hold these brown bag lunches every third Wednesday of the month until May 19, 2010. A complete listing of the exact locations and times can be found on the district website at www.evergreenps.org. Fishers Landing open house to explore planning for biking and walking An open house on planning improvement bicycle and walking conditions will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Fishers Landing Transit Center, Southeast 164 Avenue and State Route 14, Vancouver. Project manager Laurie Lebowsky says the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn the status of this community planning project. In addition, she says anyone interested may provide input on these three topics: potential updates to the Clark County Bicycle Commute Plan adopted in 1996, how to enhance planning reflected in the Regional Trail & Bikeway Systems Plan adopted by Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation in 2006, and broader concerns about how to make the county more “walkable” to promote health and safety for pedestrians both in urban and rural areas. Lebowsky also says a draft plan should be ready for additional review and comment in the fall, before it goes to the Planning Commission and Board of Clark County Commissioners for hearings and formal consideration in 2010. For more information, contact Lebowsky at 397-2280, ext 4544, e-mail Laurie.Lebowsky@clark.wa.gov, or visit www.clark.wa.gov/bikeandped.
