Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt
moving to Vancouvercenter

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt is expanding into a 6,137-square-foot office space on the 7th floor of the Vancouvercenter, 700 Washington Street.

The new office space will accommodate seven attorneys, according to Vancouver Schwabe shareholder and spokesperson Lisa Lowe.

“We’re extremely excited about expanding our space in the mixed-use, Class A office space in burgeoning downtown Vancouver,” Lowe said.

The Schwabe firm has 157 attorneys in offices in Portland, Bent, Salem, Seattle, Stevenson, Washington, D.C., and Vancouver. The firm this year was ranked 15th in the Oregon Business Magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For, and was recently named one of Oregon’s Most Admired Companies in a survey of Oregon chief executive officers by The Business Journal of Portland.

Yes, Virginia, there will be
a summer and picnics

It might seem a little early, but not so, says Brian Potter, Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation. Shelter reservations for the 2006 season at Lewisville Park, Vancouver Lake Regional Park and Leverich Park are now being accepted by the parks department.

Walk-in reservations will be accepted beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, in the Marshall Center, 1009 E McLoughlin Boulevard. The Marshall Center opens at 5:30 a.m. For further information, call Potter at 619-1123.

Health department moving into new
Center for Community Health in January

The Clark County Health Department will move its offices and staff into the new Center for Community Health during the first two weeks in January.

During the move, clinical services will be disrupted between Friday, Jan. 6, and Wednesday, Jan. 11. All clinical services are expected to be in full operation by Friday, Jan. 13.

The newly completed building, which will house a variety of local, state and federal health services, is at 1601 Fourth Plain Boulevard.

Judy Halstad, Columbia Credit Union member for 28 years, won a Fort Escape hybrid SUV, as a result of a drawing sponsored by the organization touting Columbia Credit Union’s “hybrid service—convenient online banking and superior in-branch service.” Halstad earlier this year won a digital camera and printer from the credit union in a different drawing.

Six Clark County homeless programs will share $695,158 U.S. in Housing and Urban Development grants during 2006. The Vancouver Council for the Homeless coordinated the application process. Columbia River Mental Health Services will receive $148,505. Mental Health Northwest’s share is $890,396. YW Housing/Share will receive $$256,467. Share Outreach will get $61,267. The Vancouver Housing Authority will receive $114,585. The Council for the Homeless will get $24,938.

Calendar

A Clark County Health Department educational forum to provide businesses with information on the state’s new smoking rules is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, in the Fort Vancouver Regional Library, 1007 E Mill Plain Boulevard.

Dredges Sugar Island, foreground, and Oregon, left, have completed over one-quarter of the Columbia River channel deepening project, increasing depth of the river to 43 feet from Vancouver west about 25 miles and a smaller section of the river east of Astoria. The pipeline dredge Oregon, owned by the Port of Portland ‘rehandled’ 2.6 million cubic yards of sand, depositing it on industrial sites at the Ports of Vancouver and Portland.
