Caring Heart Award winners are… Eight philanthropy awards, honoring individuals, businesses or organizations for their efforts in helping local children, adults and families lead meaningful and productive lives will be presented by Innovative Services NW at the 6 p.m. Saturday, March 29, Caring Heart Awards Dinner in the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver. Winners are the following: Patrick Lamb, northwest musician, Chairman of the Board Caring Heart Award. He has performed in numerous fundraisers to raise consciousness about the loss of funding for the arts in publics schools. In addition, Patrick has been involved with major civic efforts to raise money for the American Diabetes Association, The American Cancer Society and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. He also worked with local artist Christine Yvette to write and record a song dedicated to Innovative Services NW efforts in the community entitled Where There is Faith. Jada Rupley, Educational Service District 112, Children’s Caring Heart Award. Rupley has supported the community through her work at the for more than 25 years. She is directly responsible for many diverse programs ranging from early childhood to adolescents, adults, and seniors. These programs include early learning and child care programs, child care facility construction projects, and alternative programs for at-risk students. Mollie Hands, Community Advocacy Caring Heart Award. Hands was recognized for her devotion to the visually impaired and blind community through 35 years of volunteer service at the Washington State School for the Blind. Hands also supports Open House ministries and is a volunteer pen pal for the Harney School Pen Pal program.
Barb and Bob Howard, the Board of Directors Caring Heart Award. The couple has spent their lives advocating for children, families and adults with special needs and employment barriers. Bob retired from the Department of Community Services where, as a Program Manager for Developmental Disabilities, he was a community partner and collaborator with Innovative Services NW and other nonpprofit organizations. Barb is retired from the Washington State Division of Children and Family Services. Each has served on Innovative Services NW board of directors. Dan Tonkovich, Vancouver, USA Hometown Caring Heart Award. Tonkovich, a formerly a Vancouver City council member and mayor pro tem has supported Innovative Services NW events with his attendance, presented awards and given opening remarks as a guest to the Caring Heart Awards Dinner.
Peggy Hays, EveAnn Classen Leadership Caring Heart Award. Hays has been highly involved in addressing the needs of children and families in the community for over 25 years and is involved in several community committees addressing the needs of children and families, in particular disadvantaged children and families.
Beaches Restaurant and Bar, Employment Caring Heart Award. Owner, With assistance from owner Mark Matthias, Beaches has also been supportive of Innovative Services NW by donating gift certificates for fundraising auctions, catering the annual Caring Heart Society social and employee recognition brunches. Beaches is a client of Encore Custodial Services, an Innovative Services NW program providing janitorial services. The Heathman Lodge, Development Caring Heart Award. Innovative Services NW has held more than a dozen events over the past six years at the Heathman Lodge and has received in-kind sponsorships and donated auction packages. Innovative Services NW, serves over 750 children, adults, and families with disabilities and social disadvantages in Clark County each week. News Briefs Bank of Clark County was presented with a “Better Workplace Award” by the Association of Washington Business (AWB). The award honors AWB member companies that demonstrate innovation in the areas of workplace safety, job training and advancement, and benefit and compensation programs. Bank of Clark County won the award in the Innovative Benefit/Compensation Program category. <> Battle Ground city manager Dennis Osborn has appointed Catherine Huber Nickerson as finance and information services director for the City of Battle Ground. She comes to Battle Ground from the Clark County Treasurer’s Office where she served as finance manager from 1995 until her recent appointment at the City of Battle Ground.
